Qibla Direction: Compass & Map · Last updated: October 9, 2026
Information Collection
Qibla Direction: Compass & Map does not require an account and does not collect personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, or files. The app has no backend server of its own, and we do not sell your data. The app uses third-party services, described below, that may collect certain technical information.
Location and Sensors
The app asks for your device location (approximate or precise) only while the app is in use, to calculate the Qibla direction from where you are. Your location is processed on your device. It is not stored by the app and is not sent to any server operated by us. The app also reads your device's compass (magnetometer) to show your heading and may vibrate your device when you are aligned with the Qibla. You can deny or revoke the location permission at any time in your device settings; the app will then be unable to calculate the direction automatically.
Map Imagery
Map mode displays satellite imagery loaded from Esri (ArcGIS). To show the map, the app requests image tiles for the area you are viewing, so Esri may receive those requests together with your IP address and could infer your approximate location. Learn more about Esri's privacy practices: https://www.esri.com/en-us/privacy/overview
Advertising
On Android, the app offers an optional rewarded ad that you choose to watch by tapping "Watch an ad". Ads are provided by Google AdMob, which may collect device identifiers such as the advertising ID and other technical information to serve, measure, and improve ads. When you choose to watch an ad, Google's consent form may be shown so you can manage your advertising choices where required by law (for example in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland). You can reset or opt out of personalised ads in your device's Google settings. Learn more about Google's privacy practices: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Analytics and Crash Reporting
The app uses Firebase Analytics to collect usage information such as screens viewed, app version, and device type, using an app instance identifier, to understand how the app is used. The app uses Sentry for crash reporting and diagnostics. Sentry may collect technical information such as device model, operating system version, app version, crash logs, and diagnostic information. We have configured Sentry not to collect personally identifiable information. This information is used only to find bugs and improve the stability of the app.
Other Services
On Android, the app uses Google Play's in-app update service to let you know when a new version is available. Share and link buttons open your device's share sheet or browser, and are governed by the apps you choose.
Data Security
Data transmitted by the third-party services used by this app is encrypted in transit using secure network connections.
Children's Privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
